Brandi Rahim
I run a full service doula practice where I assist Black birthing persons in pregnancy support and education, labor and delivery support as well as postpartum. I want to be an anchor for birthing persons to assist them in having autonomy over their bodies and birthing experience. I give them education to make informed decisions about their health and wellbeing. I worked in maternal health for 5 years and have seen the good, the bad and the ugly side of the business of birth here in the United States. I want to help birthing persons feel empowered to question medicine and advocate for themselves in medical spaces. I want to expose birthing persons to all options available to them.
I became a CLC (Certified Lactation Counselor) in 2019 after learning of the low breastfeeding rates in Black women. I breastfeed all 4 of my children and realized that I was privileged to have the support and resources I needed to help me reach my breastfeeding goals. I also learned quickly that the resources out there came from mostly white women. I want to be relatable to those who need the support, to have a shared experience and understand the barriers that we face when it comes to breastfeeding.
As a therapist, I enjoy helping people make connections in their lives. We all have trauma and a story to tell. I love helping people learn about themselves and how to navigate this journey we call life. Please email me at info@healyouwholeyou.com to schedule with me, or book with the therapy consult link on the Home page. Please note, I can not have dual relationships so I can not be your therapist and your doula/lactation counselor, etc.
Through my podcast and blog I want to create content that speaks to people of color. Our journey is like no other and I want to be raw and real about things that I’ve gone through or people around me. From relationships to motherhood, to working in Corporate America, to traveling, there is a lot to share and learn from myself and my special guests.
I love to talk and have a lot to say about a lot of things so come on this journey and laugh and cry with me as I share my stories with you all through these platforms!
